Terms of Use

The rules that apply when you search the directory, send a request, leave a review or list a business.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of Totabiz (“we”, “us”, “the Platform”). By using the Platform you agree to them. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data.

2. What the Platform is

An independent directory of businesses located in or serving Milton Keynes (postcode districts MK1–MK19 and MK46). We publish listings, pass on requests you approve and host reviews. We are not a party to any contract between a customer and a business.

3. Quote requests

  • You confirm your mobile number with a one-time code before sending a request.
  • Before anything is shared we show you the named businesses, the details they will receive and how they may contact you. Only businesses you approve receive your request, and you can withdraw it at any time.
  • You must give accurate details, only submit genuine requests, and not use the Platform to send spam, advertising or unlawful content.
  • We do not guarantee that any business will respond, provide a quote or be available.

4. Verification and badges

Badges reflect checks carried out at a point in time, such as active Companies House registration and, for regulated services, entries on professional registers. A badge is not an endorsement or a guarantee of the quality of any work. See how we verify.

5. Financial services disclaimer

We do not provide regulated financial advice, investment advice, mortgage intermediation, consumer credit broking or insurance distribution.

  • Before engaging a provider of financial, mortgage, pension or credit services, check its authorisation on the FCA Financial Services Register (register.fca.org.uk).
  • Dealing with an unauthorised business means you may not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

6. Reviews

In line with the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024:

  • Only customers who confirmed they worked with a business through a Totabiz request are invited to review it.
  • Reviews must reflect your own genuine experience. You must not post, buy, sell or arrange fake or incentivised reviews.
  • Businesses cannot pay for, request or arrange the removal, hiding or down-ranking of genuine reviews.
  • We moderate every review and may remove reviews that are unlawful, abusive, contain other people's personal data, or are shown to be fake. See our Review Policy.

7. Business listings and accounts

By managing a listing you confirm that:

  • you are authorised to act for the business;
  • the information you provide is accurate, current and yours to use;
  • you will handle request data lawfully, as a separate data controller, and only to respond to the customer's request;
  • you will delete a customer's details when they withdraw a request and we ask you to; and
  • you will not solicit fake reviews, misrepresent your credentials or contact customers who have not sent you a request.

8. Paid plans and billing

  • A standard listing is free. We charge no commission on work you win through the Platform.
  • Paid plans are business-to-business services billed in advance through Stripe. Prices are shown before you subscribe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the paid period.
  • A paid plan affects placement only. It never changes verification requirements, ratings or which reviews are shown.

9. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • scrape, copy or bulk download listings, or bypass rate limits or bot protection;
  • upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory or infringes someone else's rights;
  • impersonate a person or business, or manage a listing you are not authorised to act for; or
  • interfere with the security or operation of the Platform.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove a listing, review or account that breaches these terms, fails verification or poses a risk to users, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. You can erase your customer account at any time from Privacy and data.

11. Intellectual property

The Platform's software, design, directory compilation and branding belong to us or our licensors. Business names, trade marks and logos belong to their owners. To report content you believe infringes your rights, contact our contact page.

Google Maps ratings, reviews and photos remain Google Maps content and are displayed under the Google Maps Platform Terms and Google's Terms of Service. Attribution and source links shown with that content must not be removed or obscured.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for any contract, work or dispute between you and a listed business, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or data. Consumers keep all their statutory rights.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Platform or the law, and will show the date of the latest version above.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Consumers living elsewhere in the UK may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
